Project Description

St Peter Mancroft’s head Verger was donated some money to have the Bill Westood Gates (west) restored to their former glory.

I was asked to take the gates and overthrow down, repair any defects, have blast cleaned hot zinc sprayed and a two pack polyurethane wet paint applied by Mastercote in Rackheath, then gilded with gold leaf and finally reinstalled.

On one of the gates the lock plates had rusted away and needed to be replaced. I sprayed it with galvanised paint inside to stop any water damage again.
